Commonwealth Mint has announced the sale of the remainder of business to Heimerle + Meule Group, which represents the Precious Metals Processing division of the Germany-based Possehl Group.
Commonwealth Mint, the UK’s largest private mint, specialises in the minting of precious metal and base metal commemorative coins for collectors, together with the production of currency coins. It’s headquarters are based in Bristol and it operates from an advanced minting facility based in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery-Quarter. The business services customers across Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
This transaction results in Possehl Group owning 100% of Commonwealth Mint, following a partial sale of the initial shareholding in 2022. James Hughes and Jonathan Deane continue as joint managing directors, and the senior management team will also remain in place.
The purchase of the entire issued share capital of Commonwealth Mint, together with the recently announced acquisition of Royal Dutch Mint, has enabled Heimerle + Meule Group to strengthen its already strong foothold in the European precious metal market.
Isca Ventures acted as the lead corporate finance adviser to the shareholders of Commonwealth Mint, with legal advice provided by White Jackman. Possehl Group were advised by Shoosmiths.
